Meet the Rat

You continue cleaning, forced to do so by Laurie's powers. After a while, you find a rat crouched in the corner, watching you. Normally, this would have no effect on you, but for some reason you squeal in shock and jump back. The rat moves forward and you back away for some reason. Then, to your incredible shock, the rat speaks. "Do not be afraid, human. I will not harm you. I see that you have been enslaved by Laurie." You are surprised not only that the rat is speaking, but it is doing so in the voice of a normal adult human male. "I am here on infiltration. I know how to bring Laurie down. Once that task is complete, her magic will disappear. But I need your help to do so."

"What can I do?" you ask "Laurie has taken control of me!"

"You're not under her control right at this moment" says the rat. Good point. You stopped cleaning (apparently breaking free from her powers) when you jumped back from the rat, apparently the magic vanished when he started to speak. "Anyway, although you are under her control, you don't need to do anything. You just have to bring me near her and be there when I do my thing. Just let me do everything. Now pick me up and hide me somewhere on your person. I'll take care of everything next time you see Laurie."

For some reason, you do as the rat bids you. You pick him up and put him in the front pocket of your maid uniform. He ducks down ouyt of sight, and instantly the magic snaps you into the spell again. You pick up the duster you dropped and continue cleaning. But this time, the strange Rat rests comfortably in your front pocket, waiting and biding his time.
