Game 1 | Game 1 Outline |
You look from Zade to the wizard and back. It doesn't take you long to decide. "Sure," you say carefully. "We need as many allies as we can get."
Zade chuckles while the wizard still appears wary.
-----
Later, the three of you have set up camp for the night. Both Zade and the wizard have agreed to follow you, and the wizard has noted that you are again headed for Valmara, but you ignored it and Zade brushed it off. Zade has also allowed you to keep the large sword, having seen your skill in using it to dispatch the spiders.
For reasons you don't quite comprehend, you take Zade aside, and tell him about your growing fears. You tell him that you refuse to conform to destiny or whatever, yet it seems more and more that no matter what you do, it is still happening. Zade considers a moment then speaks: "In my travels I have learned much about destiny. The most important thing is that fate and destiny do not at all determine what you must do or what you will do, rather, what will happen to you, and what choices you must make. In your example, although it seems you were irrevocably sealed to the future the instant you entered this world, a more appropriate term would be 'Chosen One'. Fate dictates what the Chosen One is supposed to do, but by no means are they forced to do it. They choose to do it by their own free will. And while it seems this world is moving much harder than is the average to get you to do what you are supposed to do, you still have a choice in the matter. Of course that's just what I think."
You thank Zade for his insight and leave to think about what he said. Being the Chosen One doesn't sound nearly as bad as having my every action determined by destiny you think. But still, I have a right to my own life! I choose what I do, and no one else!
You hear a soft chuckle from within your mind. *Well, well. Starting to get more accepting of your new self, hm?* says the now-familiar voice in your head.
What are you talking about now? you demand, noticing that you are speaking to the voice by thought, rather than verbally.
*Choosing a new identity, considering Zade's 'Chosen One' interpretation? Face it, whether you like it or not, whether you realize it or not, you're getting closer and closer to becoming your new self.*
You hiss at the voice within your head. No! I am NOT truly female, I am NOT a slut, and I will NOT accept this!
The voice sighs. *We've already been through this. I already told you-*
Enough out of you! you snap, and the voice recedes once again. You feel a rush of warmth, and realize that the voice is again trying to encourage you by tapping your sex drive again. Not gonna work! you shout inside your head, and the hormones slowly recede. You grumble and head inside your tent to get some well-deserved rest.
