As time passes, you notice that you seem to adjust to your new life rather quickly. You learn that James is indeed very accommodating, and treats you extraordinarily well. You find your new life strangely more comfortable than your old life (although being raised by a billionaire might have something to do with it). At the age of 6, you learn that James has gotten you in to a very prestigious private school (and has paid off the faculty to treat you well), but it is at the age of 8 that you get the real surprise:
You find your adoptive father sitting at the table with a strange man you've never seen before. This one contrasts greatly with James' constantly professional appearance and demeanor. He is tall and thin, with wild black hair streaked with white. Of interest is that his eyes are two different colors - the left one is green and the right one is blue. James calls you over. "Clara, there's someone I'd like you to meet. This is Psyche." The strange man nods at mention of his name.
You timidly raise a hand in greeting, and Psyche gets on one knee before you. "Hello Clara. Can you hear me?" The stranger's voice speaks not out loud, but in your head.
"Wha-?" You ask aloud. "Who said that? How are you doing that?"
Psyche grins softly. "I said it. I am speaking to you telepathically." At your confused look, he clarifies. "It means I'm communicating with you psychically. I am a psychic. And so are you."
"What?!" you cry. "No I'm not!"
"Yes you are. You just don't realize it because your powers remain dormant. But I can sense them, and you are indeed capable of psychic powers. In fact, you possess great power, incredible power second only to myself and the mysterious Legendary One."
You are a little surprised by this, but given that you were once a male, you find strange occurrences to be less...strange...these days. "So...I'm psychic?" you say. Psyche and James both nod. "And...you're saying that I'm a powerful psychic?" Again Psyche nods.
"Psychic power is difficult to master, especially when it is as powerful as yours, and especially when you have to learn on your own," Psyche says, speaking aloud for once. "If you'll let me, I am willing to offer my services to train you, Clara, to use your psychic abilities."
James is quick to agree, but you need to consider it. It is quite shocking to first be reduced to a little girl, and now you learn that you possess incredible psychic power. You have to admit one thing, though: if you are indeed as powerful as Psyche says, then this life just got a whole lot more fun. You consider Psyche's offer once more, then finally make your decision.
"Yes," you say. "Train me. I want to be psychic, I want to be powerful."
