Game 1 | Game 1 Outline |
Not one to be kept down, you quickly stagger to your feet, glaring menacingly at Kazaki. The head of the Imperial Guard simply smirks amusedly and draws his sword.
Kazaki makes the first move, swinging at you with his sword. You duck under the swing and move in, but Kazaki batters you away with his hand, then attempts another slash. You quickly duck to the side, then immediately slide in towards him and perform a simple low kick, hoping to trip him up, but he simply jumps backwards and over your attack. What's more, he immediately takes advantage of your vulnerable position by kicking you in the back. Expertly, you use the momentum from his kick to roll to your feet once more, but Kazaki is immediately upon you. He grabs you by your collar and pulls you toward him, then hurls you backwards into the cliff face. You push yourself up once again, but Kazaki has already closed the gap.
"Impressive, child," he says cockily, "but now I have you cornered." He swings his sword back for the final blow, but suddenly the ground underneath his feet flashes red and collapses! Kazaki climbs out of the small pit as you, the wizard, and the knights look on in shock and confusion. Behind you, several spots on the cliff face flash the same red and fire large rocks down at the knights. Cursing, Kazaki re-mounts his horse. "Mark my words," he growls menacingly, "This isn't over. I will bring you in if I have to have your head to do it!" As the ground beneath the horses begins to crack, Kazaki quickly gives the order to retreat. As he flees, he calls back to you- "We will meet again! Count on it!"
The strange happenings subside as the Imperial Guard rides off. You stare in shock, unable to move, for several minutes. No way was this natural... "Did you do this?" you demand, whipping around to face the wizard.
But the wizard simply shakes his head. "Nay, earth-transmutation is beyond my talents" he says. You notice that his voice carries an expression of both awe and nervousness. "This is the work of an alchemist."
"Not just any alchemist," calls a new voice, this one calm yet cocky. The ground in front of you bursts up as a large stone slab, which then crumbles to dust. A strange man stands in its place, dressed mainly in dark red, except for brown gloves and a short black cape attached to a hood. The hood is currently flipped back revealing neatly combed black hair and light brown eyes devoid of emotion. In his right hand is a large axe, with an odd circular rune etched in the side of the axe-head.
The wizard stares at the newcomer in clear shock and awe. "Akensa?!" he gasps in shock.
The stranger simply chuckles. "Yes, it is I, the great Akensa."
You look back and forth between the wizard and the newcomer. "What? What is this? Explain!"
The wizard sighs. "Akensa here... he is an alchemist of great skill... but also unpredictable. Akensa works only for himself and is not to be trusted."
Akensa merely smirks. "On the other hand, I just saved both your hides from the Imperial Guard." While the wizard just glares, Akensa turns to you. "Ah, so this is the Chosen One; a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
"I am not!" you snap angrily. "I am not some pawn of fate; I choose my own life!"
Akensa simply sighs and brings out a stone tablet from seemingly nowhere. He raises the tablet towards you, and you see several small runes on it begin to glow with a yellow light. "That confirms it," Akensa muses. "You are already permanently locked into your role in this world."
You pull back in shock. "W-what?" Permanently locked? No...
The voice in your head takes the opportunity to speak up. *You get it? There's no going back. Sooner or later you'll have to accept your new form. And this should help...*
And with that, you feel another rush of warmth sweep over you. This time it's more intense than the last time, and you stumble as you try to maintain yourself. You know you shouldn't give in, but it's just so hard to resist...
NO! You growl as you shove past Akensa and the wizard. "I'm not giving in that easily. Just...leave me alone!" You storm off, glance back, and break into a run.
