A part of the forest

As the glow races toward you, you react instantly to turn and run! You run as fast as you can, back to the path you came down. You make it about halfway to the point where the path opens into the clearing before your body suddenly snaps in shock - the glow has caught you and now surrounds you. The glowing stops almost as quickly as it caught you, and you keep moving toward the path. Something's different, however. You're moving a lot slower than you were before. Your limbs feel a lot heavier, making moving difficult.

You keep pushing forward, though, desperately hoping to escape. But after only a few steps, you trip and fall forward. Slowly, and with great difficulty, you push yourself up with your heavy, sluggish arms. You try to move, only to find the cause of your fall: your right foot is stuck fast to the ground! You try to pull yourself loose, but to no avail; it doesn't occur to you that your limbs are so heavy you can barely move them alone, so trying to lift your equally-heavy leg would be futile anyway. In your continued (and useless) struggles, you notice that your right leg feels funny, aside from the heaviness. You look down and see a small patch of brown on your lower leg, slowly spreading downward. As the brown covers your foot, you see your toes start to move slightly. Even though you're not moving them, your toes start to dig into the ground! Your heel, too, is pushing into the ground in the same way. In shock, you try to pull away, only to find that not only is your right leg no longer responding, but your left foot has become stuck to the ground right next to your right foot in the same way as your right foot was stuck! You watch as the same thing that happened to your right foot happens to your left. Once your left foot has dug into the ground, both feet seem to push in deeper, becoming buried in the ground. The brown color on your lower legs then starts to spread slowly -very slowly- upwards. You stare in horror as the coloring also seems to spread across, connecting and fusing your legs together!

In the meantime, you feel an odd sensation in your hands. You look and see your fingers lengthening and the same brown color forming on your hands and fingers. You stare in horror as tiny, leaf-bearing twigs sprout from your lengthening fingers. You can only watch in horror as, against your will, as your arms straighten out, moving to reach upward and outward toward the sky in a V-shape. Although the movement was against your will, you are still left straining from the effort of moving your arms into place - and you are still straining from holding them in position, though you find you are unable to lower them, or even move them at all. You can only stare as your hands have become thick, leafy branches.

By now the brown coloring -bark, you realize- has completely covered your legs. You feel a sharp pinch as it engulfs your crotch and continues to spread. Meanwhile, the brown -bark- that had formed on your hands has spread downward, engulfing your arms down to the armpit. Small, leafy twigs sprout along the length of your arms, but only sparsely. The bark spreads up your abdomen and back, moving more slowly on your front. Only after your back and sides are completely covered does it reach your chest. With the exception of your legs, the spreading bark has not reshaped your body, and this trend continues as the soft bark spreads up over your breasts, pushing them into a held position as the stiffness spreads. Your hair thickens greatly, becoming thick leaves and leafy vines that hang down, covering your head. As the bark spreads up your neck, your last act is to take a breath and blow the leaves and vines that are your hair out of your eyes. As the bark spreads across your head, you can feel that its shape is retained as well. But as the bark engulfs your lips, you feel your lips being forcibly pulled into a slight smile; similarly, your eyes are forced from an expression of horror to one of light amusement.

Finally, it is done. You feel a slight tingle across your body but nothing changes. Strangely, you find that you can still see; despite having no real eyes you see out of the eye-shaped points on your body that your eyes have become - it is good that you blew the "hair" out of your face otherwise your vision would be completely obscured. You also notice that no longer do you feel any weight in any part of your body - and you feel no strain from holding your "arms" (now branches) in that V-shape. It is also a surprise that despite being turned into a tree, your mind is completely uncompromised and you can think just as you always could.

You hear footsteps (you know you can still see, it makes sense you could hear) as the woman who changed you walks around your body into view. You were running away when you were hit; with your back to the cottage you can now only ever look out toward the path. As the woman steps into view, she places her left hand on her hip and smiles in amusement. "There now," she says smoothly. "Now instead of tarnishing the forest's beauty, you're contributing to it." You try to glare at the woman, but of course your wooden face fails to respond and remains set into an expression of amusement. The woman smiles and strokes your wooden face gently. You wish you could move to shove her off - but at the same time her touch feels warm, soothing, and enjoyable. You try to struggle, but your wooden body doesn’t even twitch. The woman continues to stroke your wooden body, smiling pleasantly as she does. "It's wonderful to have one of your beauty contributing to the forest," she says quietly. Running one hand on your wooden breasts, she sighs happily. Finally, she steps back and walks back around, out of your sight, presumably heading to the cottage.
