Law of the Lightning Emperor

You still refuse to accept the idea that you can't control your fate, but it doesn't look like you can escape being female. Despite your refusal to accept destiny something tells you that you'll still have to have a female name. Reluctantly resigning yourself to just that much, you think for a moment before deciding on a generally tomboyish name.

"You can call me Sam. Short for Samantha." You say the second part quietly and reluctantly.

*You see? That wasn't so hard, was it?* the voice asks. *Just accept it and make it easier on yourself. Resisting only hurts yourself.*

Shut up. you say in your mind. I won't give in, no matter what!

*It's just a matter of time. You can't escape it.*

Raijin just nods, as does Kohiro. The wizard, meanwhile, echoes the voice in your head. "So you choose a female name but deny your femininity? Accept your destiny. You will be the mother to the Hero of Legend-"

The wizard is interrupted, however, by Raijin. "Fool. You believe that fairy tale?"

"Of course," the wizard says. "It is destiny."

Raijin eyes him incredulously for a second, then clasps his hands behind his back and recites: "Darkness is coming. Twenty-two hundred years from now the Dark One shall awaken and evil will attempt to consume all. But the arrival of the Dark One will coincide with the coming of the Chosen One, the warrior maiden with hair the color of flame. Brought here and changed to this form, she shall be the only one who can destroy the Dark One."

You stare in confusion, Kohiro in surprise, and the wizard a mix between shock and confusion. "That was-"

"That, word for word, was the prophecy." Raijin states with the same absolute tone.

"How did you-" the wizard begins, but is interrupted again.

"I recorded it." Raijin says. "Twenty-two hundred years ago today. The Prophet spoke to me, and I recorded the Prophecy. It inspired me to gain power and establish my Empire. I shared the prophecy with Cryosuke and he stopped the Dark Herald at the cost of his life one-thousand years ago. Do not speak to me of destiny. There is no Hero of Legend with a fierce mother, it is a corruption of the Prophecy. There is only the Chosen One, Sam here, who is the one who has the power to destroy the Dark One." Raijin gives his entire speech with his absolute tone that brooks no argument, and you know he speaks the truth.
