Up: Game 1  Up: Game 1 Outline

You Run!

A scream escapes your mouth as you notice the cave collapsing behind you. You don't know why, but if you had been in there a few seconds longer, you would be dead. If those tickling hands hadn't let go of you, you'd be gone. You run away from the cave as you think about everything that has happened.

Somehow, you're going a different way then when you came. You don't know where you are. It's not the forest where you entered, but rather a beach. The ocean spans for miles out to the horizon. This isn't the way back to your home, and you have no idea what to do. You roll up your pants as the tide comes in. You look out at the horizon. You can faintly see the outline of something... a ship? Maybe, you don't know. Whatever it is, it's getting closer to the shore.

A branch rustles behind you. What was that? Suddenly, you are knocked out.

You wake up a few minutes later, completely buried in sand. Your head is the only thing sticking out of the sand. A younger woman is standing over you.

"My crew is out there, coming in," she says. "You're about to be a forced member of the crew! Congratulations!"

"Ugh... great," you say. The ship that was on teh horizon minutes ago is now right at the shore, preparing to load.

"I buried you so you wouldn't run away," she says. "Now let's go."

"How do I get out of this?" you ask.

"Oh, my apologies," the woman says, and casts a spell on you, levitating your body directly onto the ship. You look around. It's an entirely female crew, mostly young, too. One crew member casts a spell on a pile of ropes in the corner of the ship, and you are tied up from your shoulders to your ankles. You fall to the deck.

"You're not going anywhere," the woman says. She then uses magic to levitate you onto a rope hanging from the mast, so you are hanging above the water, your feet barely touching it.

"I don't feel like part of the crew!" you say.

"It's because you're not!" the woman says. The ship sails off. The waves hitting your feet feels kind of nice, actually, and aside from being tied just above the ocean, you're pretty relaxed. When you notice the mermaids, you start to panic, though.

At least ten mermaids surface and look at you, as the ship sails along.

"Hi," you say.
