"Wait! Come back," shouts Janine, her voice dripping with ennui. The boy obliges, flattered to have his presence requested explicitly. Janine wraps an arm around him, and he tenses.
"If you're going to change," states Janine, "you really ought to do so before the party, rather than after. Everyone is going to be here."
The boy wrinkles his forehead. "But I can't!" he whines. "I try every night, but I never seem to make any progress."
Janine throws her head back. "You just need a little help; that's all," she promises. She beings to massage the boy's shoulders, sporadically looking back at you for a reaction. You give her a thumbs-up gesture, even though you are not exactly sure what she has in mind.
