Packing Up

Everyone goes inside to remove his coat, loosen all restrictive clothing, and change. Well, almost everyone. Carol stands back with her arms crossed, a smile on her face as the rest of her family grows wolfish. While Melissa collects all of the shoes, Chad attends to Peter, who still needs help to change completely. "If he doesn't learn soon," laughs Erin, "people are going to mistake him for a vampire with a hormone condition." Chad growls playfully at Erin, and she pretends to run away.

"Are you sure that you don't want to come with us?" you ask Carol, massaging her neck with the heels of your forepaws.

"No, you kids run along," she says. "The woods are less attractive to platypi than wolves, and I have work to do in the kitchen, anyhow. You supervise out there, and I'll be more sociable when Michael and Lisa come tomorrow."

You blow your wife a kiss and fall down on all fours. "To the back yard!" you shout, and everyone races to the swinging door leading there, except for Chad, who waits to carry Peter outside. Your grandson howls at the pale outline of the moon overhead, and everyone quickly joins him.
