A Cure for Loneliness

You stare up at the huge gator, your big hippo mouth hanging wide open. How did he know? How did he know that your family and friends wouldn't talk to you? How did he know that your former co-workers had virtually ignored you? How did he know that you had been alone every night for the last six months? A tear runs down your cheek.

"Yes," you sniffle. "But how did you...?"

"It happens to all of us," Albert sighs. "It happened to Rudy here. And it happened to me. Most humans just can't deal with transformations ... except for the kids."

"But sooner or later," adds Rudy, "you have to stop being alone and re-connect with the world."

"Couldn't have said it better myself," Albert smiles. "I tell you what: If you don't like it, we'll leave right away. I promise. So, what do you say? Will you join us?"

Drying your tears, you smile and answer, "Yes. Yes, I will!"
