Game 2 | Game 2 Outline |
Albert gives your massive frame an awkward but sincere hug, and you get a grip on yourself. You look up at Albert. "Can I just wrestle this off like I did before?"
Albert sighs reluctantly. "No. It's magic, not your metabolism." He gently pokes your paunch for emphasis. "I hate to say this, but we might need voodoo to unvoodoo you."
He pulls you (with difficulty) to your feet, and you head for the magic market to get help.
Easier said than done.
When you finally overcome the embarrasment about your bulk, your confidence is nearly smashed by the first vendor laughing at you. Only Albert stops you from running (or at least waddling) away. It doesn't get any easier, either. All of the vendors offer you new charms and potions to get you thin. When they finally understand that Albert wants them to remove a spell, not buy a new one, the most pleasant answer is "Sorry, pal, but I can't undo that kinda thing. Why not..." The majority are abusive.
After an hour, even Albert's grim determination fades. He stops in an alley and sinks against the wall. "I hate to say this," he grates, "but we need to find Carla."
"Well, yes, I agree we need to help Fred", you point out, "but could you concentrate on my problem here?"
He sighs, and explains. "Carla is a bona fide Voodoo Priestess. If anyone can remove Voodoo, it's her." He jerks his head at the magic stalls. "That lot are all just puny spin-off merchants!"
So now you have 2 reasons to find the elusive Carla. This line of thought makes you notice a substantial fact, or rather, the abscence of a substantial fact.
"Uh, where's Fred?"
Albert flushes slightly. "He's a pretty hefty pooch. I left him browsing in the food markets. He'll be fine", he adds as you glare at him.
"Browsing with his eyes, or with his mouth?"
"I left him a few snacks to tide him over ..." The significance of your glare finally sinks in. "Oh! He wouldn't ... would he?"
You recall the fixed look that Fred directed at the market when you arrived, and you break into a hasty waddle.
