Game 2 | Game 2 Outline |
Fred fights your efforts every grueling step of the way. He refuses to eat most of what you cook for him according to Carl's new orders; he sulks; he refuses to talk to you beyond your diet, and he watches you as though you're some kind of enemy. He only lets up a little as concerns your health program, though the new diet is much more palatable. Fred ignores your thanks completely.
The worst part, however, is that you are sure Fred is sneaking to the gym when your back is turned. You don't want to confront the fact that your friend is betraying you, and you don't know how to stop him. You find his sweat-soaked clothes in the laundry, and you clean them without comment. You are getting seriously worried: he's restless, and his leg isn't healing up properly.
At the end of the first week, Carl examines both of you. Fred has only gained 3 pounds, and you have gained 4! Throughout the week, you've been snacking distractedly. Carl looks suprised, but simply remarks "Sometimes these diets take a while to start showing." His frown increases, and he looks sharply at you. "I seriously doubt that Fred's been willing about this diet. Have you got him to stick to it?"
What to say? Tell him everything and alienate your best friend even more? Or keep quiet and go back to that silent purgatory?
