You've never done it before, and you've never seen a fish do it either. But for that reason it's worth a try.
Summoning up your remaining strength, you bring your eyelid down and wink.
"Ben", shrieks the girl, "it winked".
"Don't be silly, Alex, fish don't wink"
"It did. It winked. Pick it up!" Meekly Ben reaches down and takes you gingerly by the tail.
"Get on with it you fool", cries Alex. It's nice to know that someone cares, you think.
But instead of putting you back in the basin, Ben takes you back into the bedroom and puts you in a glass by the bed. "There you go, Alex", says Ben, "it's saved".
"But that's my beer, you fool!", shouts Alex.
Off the floor and into the alcohol, as the saying goes. Finally, you're out of the air but do you dare breathe in beer?
