Cellular phones can be annoying, you concede, even to dull human ears. You decide to give the wolf a second chance, since technically, you are his guest at the moment. "Guest" is a much nicer word than "intruder," you muse as you open the door. You return his apology.
"No need to apologize," the wolf replies. "I'm still getting used to these instincts, and I don't blame you one bit for running inside . . . even if this is my house." He musters a grin as he says the last part.
"Can I call you Fred?" you ask, unable to think of anything else to say.
"Sure!" he says. "We're still neighbors, aren't we? Oh, if I nipped you earlier, I didn't mean to; instincts again. Now, would you like to know where the light switch is?"
