Having no fear, you decide to find out what is making the noise. You consider that you can approach the source more stealthily if you first remove all clothing, so you unbutton and unzip whatever needs to be loosened and let it fall to the floor. Unencumbered, you practically glide across the kitchen and into the dining room. You prick your ears and listen. The noise appears to be coming from out on the deck. You hope that the sliding door is unlocked. You silently push against it and find that it is. You crawl out onto the woodwork and sniff at the air. Whatever was making the noise is gone, but still nearby . . . and it smells oddly familiar.
