Eat the Stolen Pie

Once in the clear, you help yourself to a large mouthful of the pilfered pie. It tastes good, but you don't enjoy it on account of your conscience. You don't even question what kind of pie it is until finishing nearly half of it. Where does the time (and the pie) go, anyhow?

You decide the pie filling is a combination of teaberry and mincemeat, with a sprinkle of cardamom. Why anyone would add cardamom to a pie mystifies you. More mystifying, though, is the stomach ache that seems to be coming on. It takes you by surprise and has you on your knees in seconds. Hoping the feeling will pass, you lie down against the earth. Instead of subsiding, though, the strange feeling worsens. You feel almost as though you are shrinking! Your legs ache, too. You try to get up, but you no longer have the strength.
