The scientific method

It takes a while to clean up all the mess, scrub all the egg yolk and grease off the kitchen surfaces and unclog the pipes which were blocked by the attempt to get rid of so much at once. but eventually you manage to get things looking... mostly back to normal, though now the place is saturated with the smell.

Albert suggests you start experimenting to pin down what powers you have, starting with recreating this incident to see exactly what you did that caused it. You are hesitant, but eventually agree, as long as your working with something a bit less messy then bacon and eggs.

You slice an apple, and place it on a paper plate, after Fred stops you from trying to use another one of his mothers. You all watch it intently, waiting for something to happen. After a half an hour, nothing happens.

"Maybe you need to actually cook it?" suggests Fred. Seeming like a possibility, you get some butter, sugar, and cinnamon, and cook up the apple, which become mushy and sticky. Rethinking how messy that could be, you get a pastry sheet and a mini pie tin and turn it into a tart, cooking it in the oven before placing it on the paper plate again.

You all watch it again, waiting. Nothing.

"Maybe it's specific foods? Try some bacon." suggest Albert. You cook up a slice of bacon and place it on a separate plate. Nothing.

"I don't get it." you say, "Obviously I must have done something." You think. "Wait, I left the room first," you cry, then run outside, returning after a minute. "Anything?" you ask.

"No," say both Albert and Fred.

"Maybe it was a fluke?" says Fred, "Maybe you just... accidentally tapped into something, like an emotional trigger or something." Albert looks at Fred questioningly, as if he didn't know Fred knew much about magic. "What? I watch movies and tv shows." he says by way of explanation.

"Well, I was feeling happy to be doing something useful." you say. "I hope that's not the actual cause, but I guess I have to try it. It's going to be hard to recreate at this point." So you prepare yourself, trying to get into the same mind frame you were last night, standing on the counter in front of the oven as Fred and Albert clear the table and put another paper plate on it.

When you think you have it, you begin cooking again...
