Make a Peace Offering

You decide that a good way to begin is to take the wolf some food. At first, you consider kibble, but very quickly, you realize how insulting that might be. After all, "Fred" is unused to being a wolf. You look around the kitchen for a minute, finally settling on a large cut of beef in the refrigerator. You had been saving it for the weekend, but you can always go back to the butcher's for another. Fred can't.

You put the meat into a plastic bag and carry it outside. The night air feels good, and you relax a little more. Fred is nowhere in sight, but after you call to him several times, he reappears and walks over to you. "What's in the bag?" he asks, licking his lips.
