... Jake, from down the street.", answers the portly bear. "Vaughn said somebody new moved in today."

"Um, yeah", you reply, thinking quickly as you open the door. You notice that the bear is wearing a sports jersey and a pair of jeans on his overweight frame. "We just got into town and were looking for someone to jam with." Mentally, you kick yourself, recognizing the perfect setup you just walked into."

"Oh, you guys play music?", asks the bear with an innocent expression. You begin to reply, but are interrupted as Fred, back in the bedroom, begins learning his new musical skills.

After the furry Gene Krupa is finished, Jake shakes his head. "Whoo", he says, "I think I got my answer. Could you use a keyboard player?"

"Um, sure", you say, "though we really could use a bass player if we're gonna be ... "

"Oh, Vaughn plays bass", Jake says dismissively. "I'll call him tonight and let him know you guys are looking." He notices your clock. "Ouch. But right now I'd better get home and have lunch. Seeya later!"

He leaves, and, dazed, you close the door and wander back into the bedroom.

"Who was it?", asks Fred, as he tightens a nut on his hi-hat cymbal.

"Um ...", you reply, "our new keyboard player?"

Fred looks at you a long moment and says ...
