As you deliberate, Jim lunges at you and bites you on the side of your neck. "What kind of a lunatic is this?" you ask yourself, while using all of your strength to push him away. He offers little resistance and falls to the ground like a rag doll. You are tempted to beat the living daylights out of him, but if he really is insane, you reason, it probably is better to leave him on the ground and make a fast escape.
You jog away from the scene of the incident but soon hear panting behind you. Fred evidently has recovered and is close at your heels. "Wait!" he barks. "You need to know something before you go any farther." Could it be a trick?
