Indignant rage boils within you. A mighty elephant, trapped by a flimsy human contrivance? Never! Trumpeting loudly, you push forward with every ounce of your titanic strength. With much creaking and cracking, the door frame (and most of the surrounding wall) splinters to pieces around you. Out in the hall, you turn your massive body around and glare down at Dr. Marmago, who is cowering beneath his desk.
“Puny human!” you bellow at the petrified scientist. “Did you think a mere door could stop me?” Wrapping your powerful trunk around Dr. Marmago’s chest, you drag him from his hiding place and lift him up until he is eye-to-eye with you. Terrified beyond words, the hapless human wriggles helplessly in your iron grip, screaming hysterically.
“This will teach you to... to... mess with elephants!” you hiss at your captive. With a forceful swing of your head, you fling Dr. Marmago away from you. Sailing across the room like a rag doll, he slams into the far wall with a crunching thud and crumples to the floor, unconscious. You snort smugly at your handiwork. Then you turn away and make your way outside, demolishing a few more doors and walls in the process.
Once outside, beneath the warm sun and blue sky, you slowly begin to calm down. Gradually, your fury subsides, replaced by the horrible realization of what you have done. “What’s happening to me?” you wonder frantically. “Am I losing my human identity? Am I becoming completely animal?”
All at once you become aware of the sound of wailing sirens. Several emergency vehicles are approaching rapidly. Maybe you should stay and face the music. Or maybe you should just run away.
