As you and Nicky realize that the coconuts have transformed into brush moles, you try to move and cannot. If it weren't for the danger of your situation, you might even find it funny. It reminds you of something you saw on television where someone was trying to climb up through a small hole and got stuck halfway through and couldn't move. His friend saw his legs kicking about and thought it would be funny to tickle his feet.
Is Nicky thinking the same thing? Or is the Gigglefruit getting to him again? You don't think it's that, but it might be, because he suddenly burst out laughing, "HAHAHAHEEHEEHEEHOHOHO!!!!!" This doesn't sound like his laughter from earlier.
Nicky seems to be trying to get out a word or a sentence. But his laughter is too continuous to let him sneak out a coherent syllable. Then suddenly you think you know what's happening to him as you feel the presence of something that must be a pair of brush moles against your helpless bare feet.
As the brush moles begin moving, they tickle your barefeet so much you burst immediately into hysterical laughter just like Nicky's. The moles seem to vibrate against every inch of your exposed feet. It feels just like the time you got your feet tickled by electric shoe polishing brushes. Remembering how much it tickled your feet then makes it tickle even more now, and you thrash about as much as you can, which still isn't much.
The brush moles keep tickling your feet and Nicky's too, making both of you laugh like hyenas. Whenever they hit a particularly sensitive spot between your toes, which seems to occur about every two minutes, you give an extra squirm, but are still totally incapable of freeing yourself. You see Nicky's head and arms thrashing about wildly, and think that you must both look ridiculous when suddenly you feel something. In the middle of an especially loud laugh, Nicky's hand manages to grab yours.
You can hardly think for how ticklish your feet are, but you have just enough presence of mind to grab onto Nicky's other hand when it flails about near yours. Then Nicky makes a colossal effort and stops laughing for fifteen seconds, only to explode into louder hysteria.
You and Nicky just keep hold of each other's hands for all you're worth. When Nicky stops laughing for about thirty seconds before he breaks down again, you think he signals that you should do the same thing. Though the brush moles tickle more than anything you can remember in your life, you make a huge attempt to silence yourself, which lasts just over half a minute. Then when you can't hold your laughter in any more, just as you burst out again, Nicky gives your hands a great yank.
You don't come loose enough to move, but Nicky immediately stops laughing again. Watching him as you laugh, you can see the energy storing up as if Nicky were a bottle of soda being shaken violently. You prepare yourself as Nicky holds back for over a minute, then, as Nicky lets loose a violent round of hysterics, yank with all your might. You can almost hear a loud popping noise, as your pull yanks Nicky from the ground.
When Nicky is free, he tries to pull you out quickly, before his feet sink back into the ground. You resort to the same tactic, somehow managing not to laugh for a long moment, then letting yourself explode as Nicky gives a mighty tug. Its enough to free you, and the two of you hurry away...
