Game 4 | Game 4 Outline |
Needing the Gigglefruit, of course you accept the challenge. Marik asks you if you are familiar with the basic rules of Dueling. Oddly enough, though you can't remember ever having Dueled in your life, you suddenly know all the rules and all the cards in the Deck you notice inserted into the Duel Disk.
Marik explains, "Because this Duel is to determine whether you are worthy of being entrusted with Gigglefruit, we will not be playing with Life Points. Instead we will be using Laugh Points. Here is how it works. In a normal Duel, when two monsters in Attack Position battle and one destroys the other, it does damage to the losing player's Life Points. When one player's Life Points reach zero, he loses the duel. Card effects can also be used to reduce your opponent's Life Points, or if he has no monster you can attack him directly."
"But because this is a Gigglefruit Duel, we will be using Laugh Points. Any card that would normally damage our Life Points instead will get a shot at the opponent's Laugh Points by tickling him for an amount of time in proportion to the amount of the damage. The more you laugh when you're tickled, the more your Laugh Points are reduced. If you can reduce my Laugh Points to zero, you will win Gigglefruit. If not, well, I could tell you what fate awaits you, but I think it's more fun to keep it a surprise. In order to adapt to this form of Dueling, there are a few modifications to the usual rules, the most common of which is that cards with a cost of Life Points now get their effects for free. Anyhting else will arise as the Duel progresses. But enough chat; it's time to Duel!"
With the rules established, you both draw five cards from your respective Decks. "As the challenger, you may go first," says Marik. "But remember that the first player can't attack on his first turn."
