A Moment to Pause and Reflect

As you pour your shower gel onto your loofa, you take valuable time to stop and reflect. That felt real; VERY real. It was like a sniper had shot a bolt of madness through space-time. That change had come out of nowhere, it was gone just as quickly, and it was somehow connected to the bow.

(You wanted it to be true.)

It's your own thoughts in your head.

(You were disappointed. You wanted it so badly.)

You scrub harder, shaking your head, disagreeing with yourself.

(I DON'T. I DID, when I was younger--)

(You're gonna pick up the bow again, test it again--)

(STOP it. YES, I got way too into that transformation stuff, but I've washed my hands of it. I don't need to fantasize about transforming to raise my self--)

(Remember how that tail felt? Remember that FACE?)

(ENOUGH!)

(It never went away not really you still want it you want it bad bad bad bad)

(NO--)

(You're lying to yourself you know you don't believe it you gotta be a horse or a zebra or maybe a wolf but it's gotta be something and it's gotta be slow and you gotta have a mirror and it's gotta be SOON--)

"NOOO!"

Oops, you spoke aloud. Thank goodness you were alone. Your hands already finished the shower on autopilot. You get out in a towel and stare at the bow on your desk. Then you're grasping it, clenching it in one hand and glaring at it.

You have to prove it to yourself. You've got to remember what happened with the bow and NOT want it. You've mastered the bow on the strings; now you have to master the bow with your mind.
