Dick Van Dyke?

As you continue to climb, you suddenly notice three things. Firstly, the rocky sides of the shaft have suddenly become bricklike. Secondly, you're a few years younger, and thirdly, your clothes have turned into a tatted vest and a pair of ragged pants (You are still barefoot.)

The rope ladder comes to a stop, but you ae able to climb up inside the brickwork. You emerge to findyourself facing a foggy townscape of terraces and cobbled streets, with Big Ben in the distence.

You're a sweep's climbing boy in Victorian London!
