Reluctant hero

The guard takes you to the town's main building where you are presented in front of the nobles. "This boy wears the magic ring!" says the guard, showing them your hand.

"Where did you get it?" asks one of the nobles

"I found it." you reply

"We have great need of that ring" says another "You must give it to us."

"Ah, that's the problem." you say nerviously "I'd gladly hand it over, but I can't get it off my finger!"

"Then I am afraid you will have to fight the giant dragon Gojira" says the eldest noble "That ring was supposed to help our bravest warrior fight the beast by making him change form, but as you cannot take it off, you must fight in his place."

"What?" you cry and start tugging even more desperately.

Suddenly the ground starts shaking. "Gojira comes!" cries a soldier, running in.

"It is time for you to fight" says the eldest "And may the ring's power protect you!"

As the guard leads you out, with you still tugging on the ring, you hear the nobles talking "What if the boy loses?" asks one

"Then we just retreve the ring from the mess at the bottom of the footprint!" replies another
