"Anyway, as I was saying, my name is Hector Xanapoulos. My friends and... colleagues, should I say, call me Hex. I was employed by the Greek Navy to develop a new chemical weapons system. I did so. Naturally... " he pauses.
He starts laughing. Not a loud, brash laugh like a stereotypical mad scientist, but a quiet, educated chuckle.
"What's so funny... Doctor?" you ask. If your dad is going after this guy, he must be very dangerous; if you are to have any chance of getting out of this alive, you are going to have to be very courteous and careful.
"I did it for them. I did it. The most potent virus in the world..." he takes out a vial from his suit and shows it to you. He then stows it back where it came from. You take careful note of the pocket where he keeps it. "It's a variant of smallpox - just as contagious, but with a slight touch of modification on my part that neutralizes any and all combatants within a kilometer per milliliter of the stuff in aerosol."
Holy shit, you think. This man is a genius... an insane genius.
"But I, son, happen to hate my homeland. Greece - such an uncivilized nation. So, I decided to sell it to the highest bidder. That is why your father wants me... to capture me and steal the toxin for themselves, or else kill me and erase the toxin's existence forever. The CIA, Special Service, DGSE, SVR, FSB, MVD, even the Chinese Ministry of Defense... they all want it. They all want me."
"But why are you telling me this?" you ask.
"Because, son..." the doctor stops. Then, with meticulous and slow movement, he reaches inside his coat and extracts a Jericho semi-automatic pistol. He holds it to your head. You gasp. Your breath comes out raggedly. "...you won't have anyone to tell this to," he finishes.
He snaps back the hammer. You close your eyes.
"Remember, son... dulce et decorum est pro patria mori," he says.
He fires once at point-blank range.
