What is this?!

Struggling to remain calm, you force yourself to think logically. You decide that first you need to check to see how far the change has gone - namely, if anything else in the house has changed as well. You glance around your room and see that it is mostly the same, but there are slight differences - the pale blue walls are now off-white and pale washed-out lavender. You check the closet and dresser - there too you can see your clothes have changed to the girl's version of the same clothes (skirts, dresses, *ahem*undergarments, etc) but are still semi-neutral, all simple and free of extraneous designs, frills, etc.

Everywhere you check, it is all the same. All photos of you, past and present, depict the new female you. All identification shows the new female you and identifies you as 17-year-old "Alexis Jensen". Anything that has anything to do with you now reflects the new you, but anything else remains unchanged. You try slapping yourself, then yanking on your newly-long hair, hoping to wake yourself up from a terrible dream, but to no avail. No matter what you do or how you look at it, everything just manages to confirm the fact that yes, you are a girl, and yes, this is very real and really happening to you.

Eventually you are able to find two slightly mitigating factors: first, the girl you have become, Alexis Jensen, is apparently somewhat of a tomboy. Second, that you have become a girl is the only change; all other aspects of your life are identical, as though you'd been born a girl instead of the boy you're supposed to be. Even so, these slight comforts don't make what has happened any less unbearable.

You collapse into an armchair, resting your head in your hands. How could this happen, anyway? Was it the rock? That doesn't make any sense; how could a rock do this? Still, nothing else of significance happened that may have caused this, so it had to be the rock. As you think about it, you remember how the rock seemed to prick your hand as you threw it away. You wonder if perhaps that wasn't an ordinary rock, or even if it was a rock at all. Even if that were the case, though, what has happened to you still shouldn't be possible. No matter how hard you try, you're unable to come up with a logical explanation.

You groan softly. You're understandably frightened - terrified, in fact. You have no idea what's going on or what's going to happen now. What are you going to do? Are you going to be this girl - Alexis, you correct yourself, since you'd better get used to it - for the rest of your life? Are you-?

You catch yourself before you can get any further. You force yourself to calm down, reminding yourself that this isn't helping matters at all. You know that for the foreseeable future you're going to be stuck as a girl (as Alexis, you correct yourself again, attempting to force familiarity with your new name), and probably for a good long time, maybe even the rest of your life; with great reluctance you resign yourself to the realization, and realize with even greater reluctance that you'd better get used to it for now, no matter how much you hate it (and will continue to). Figuring out what happened and returning to normal is still top priority of course, but being a logical person you realize that you'll have to be able to continue your life as best you can (your old life, you insist at yourself) if returning to normal proves impossible.
