You hear a loud click

as the machine moves to the next setting, "Chortle." Suddenly you feel the backs of your knees being tickled!

You've never been tickled there, as far as you can remember, and you're surprised to find how ticklish the backs of your knees are. Before you know it, your giggles have become chortles, and you begin to want to free yourself from the machine before it really makes you lose control. As your chortles grow stronger, you strain to make out what other settings are on the machine, reading that the next setting is "Laughter." After that you can just make out what looks like "Hysterics." Then there's another setting you can't read at all, but (hehehe) it probably doesn't (hohoho) matter all that much (hoohoohoo) because anything after hysterics (hawhawhaw) is probably pretty unendurable (hahaha)!
