In chorus

The sign could be a trick, or it could be a legitimate warning. You decide to find out if Nicky's thinking the same thing you are. Under your breath you sing, "Kick off your shoes an' throw 'em away..."

Nicky supplies the next line almost mechanically, "Come back'n get 'em another day..."

You grin at each other and both sing out loud, "WE'RE BAREFOOTIN'!" Giggling only partly from the Gigglefruit, you suit your actions to the song and tread lightly on the ground.

Soon you have a coconut. Nicky takes out a small pan and the antidote herb, breaks the coconut, pours the milk into the pan and starts a very small fire while you have another laughing jag. Then you watch for the pan to reach boiling point and mix in the herb at just the right time during Nicky's giggle fit.

At last you both drink the hot mixutre (surprisingly tasty), and the weird tickling sensations inside you subside. You both give a huge sigh of relief.

"I don't know how much more I could've laughed," you say.

"Yeah," Nicky agrees. "I read once about how laughter is supposed to be as strenuous an exercise as working out if you do it long enough, and now I can tell that's the truth!"

You both feel a little drowsy, and so at first neither of you notices when the tree you're under starts to change form...
