odd encounter

Ahh! It's a jaguar! You jump back, but the big cat circles you closely, watching you intently as if judging whether you would make a worthy meal. You try to slink away quietly, but stop and shudder as a hungry snarl comes from the creature.

You edge slowly to the bank of the river, looking around for some sort of weapon that would give you a ghost of a chance, but in vain. The hungry-looking carnivore rears up on its haunches and jumps at you, teeth bared.

It's jaws clamp down on your arm, cutting it badly, and the predator gets ready to deliver a killing bite to the neck ... when suddenly there is a flash of water, scales, and blood and the jaguar dissapears into the river. You glance over to see it being devoured by a crocodile just before you collapse from blood loss.
