Should Have Remembered a Little Brain Food, or Too Much Horse Sense

You take a half-hearted nibble at the crate, but are too stuffed to do anything but lie on the floor. This isn't working the way you thought it would. Wait a minute. You suddenly realize that something wasn't quite right when you looked at your self last time. Pudgy foreLEGS. Not arms.

Twisting your head again, you can just make out the limbs that protrude up from what used to be your shoulders. There is no doubt about it - you are now four-legged, not two. So much for being a humanoid horse. Your stomach churns, and muscle spasms ripple through your bloated body. You panic as your throat seems to close up for a moment, and gasp for breath the moment it reopens. The spasms work up to the forelegs you have been staring at, pushing them up towards the ceiling. The dark, thick fingers draw in and thicken, forming the familiar but not very useful shape of normal hooves.

You feel your hind legs extending as well, and bang your head against the wall as your neck stretches out again. The huge rolls of fat are drawn into your body as it expands, becoming heavily muscled and fully covered by sleek black hide. White hair sprouts around your wrists, growing out rapidly to become thick white feathering. At the same time, your vision blurs and becomes slightly distorted, divided by the dark mass of your face as it pushes out into a full muzzle.

When the spasms finally start to fade, you roll up to all fours and manage to stand awkwardly. Twisting your massive head around, you find that you are a completely normal-looking Shire colt or young stallion. No trace of your human form remains. While that's not so bad, you slowly realize that your mind is starting to change as well.

Frantic, you look around the garage. None of the strange markings on the boxes mean anything to you, even though you remember reading words there before. But what are words? You have changed too much, too fast, and now might end up as a perfectly normal animal in every way - including your mind!

You struggle to think, desperate to salvage what remains of your human memories and intelligence.
