Making Time

Still clueless about your environment, you try to buy both time and understanding. "You advised that we go to your room," you say to Jason. "Doesn't the door have a working lock?"

Jason fidgets with his fur. "Yes, but we're going to draw enough suspicion without the door locked," he replies.

You persist. "Why can't we barricade ourselves in there just long enough to explain our problem, or at least to determine how I should proceed? I still don't know anything about life in your world."

Jason smiles. "My world? That sounds hilarious." In concession, he shifts to human form while running to the staircase. "Come on!" he orders, and you follow.
