I hate dry-dryads. And mouthy manticores.

"I have as much right to be here as you do!" you say defiantly and put your hands - well, paws - upon your hips.

"Actually, only non-lycanthropic creatures are allowed in the upper levels of the house. So unless you consent to one of us unique creatures ripping a chunk from you... if any would, the taste would put most off... go downstairs," the Dryad states dryly (quite apt) and moves a pawn forward. "Checkmate."

"She's absolutely right. It's in the house charter - 'only non-lycanthropes are permitted access to the civilised and decorated areas of the house. Lycanthropes are confined to the lower levels - the basement and labyrinth specifically, owing to their viciousness and health problems'. You've got a problem, one of us will take a bite out of you," the Manticore states boredly, and sets up the board for another game with the Dryad.

Bah.
