Game 2 | Game 2 Outline |
You shut your eyes and swallow nervously. Huh, that still feels the same... you think. It must be going from the outside in.
You open your eyes again, and turn to Fred. "All right," you say. "Let's find her, and bring her back."
Fred nods, satisfied, and leaps back through. You take a moment to stick a chair in the porthole, just in case it decides to close, and clamber through yourself. The two of you set off.
The forest is surprisingly open as you walk along. The trees are huge and dense, of kinds you don't recognize. They look similar to firs or pines, but all the details are strange. There seems to be a distinct shortage of flowers, but an abundance of ferns, some of which are growing as tall as trees themselves.
You halt. Tree ferns? you think. I think I've heard this song before...
"Hey, is something wrong?" Fred says, looking back at you.
"Fred?" you say, tentatively. Funny - you didn't even notice your mouth pushing out into a muzzle. "Are there any mammals around here?"
"Us?"
You groan. "Please," you say, putting a newly-clawed hand to your head. "This is important."
"Um..." Fred sniffs carefully. "That's strange," he says. "There are a few, yeah, but most of the animals I can smell are lizards. Weird lizards...." He tails off, with a musing expression on his face.
His eyes suddenly widen. He stiffens, staring at the ground a few feet away.
You know what he's seen already. (Your ears twitch at the thought.) Walking up and looking just confirms it.
It's a dinosaur track.
