Too much of a good thing

You get to your feet and dust yourself off. Still no hiccups. You look at yourself in the mirror.

The face that looks back at you is a strange one, with its pointed ears and yellow eyes, but you could still pass for human. If you shaved those whiskers off, anyway. And got some dental work, you think, running your tongue around your front teeth.

But still, you aren't changing any more.

"Good work, Fred," you call. But Fred isn't there. Puzzled, you turn around - only to be knocked down as Fred jumps on your back again.

"One more for luck," he calls cheerfully.

"Fred, you idiot!" you shout. "You could have... oh, no." You can feel a faint, but unmistakeable tickling sensation in your chest. "You've started my... *hic*... started my... *hic*... my... *hic* hiccups again."

In a panic, you rush to the mirror. Yep, the hiccups have done their work. Before, your face looked more or less human. Now, it's an interesting combination of human and wolf, with a short muzzle, sharp canine fangs, and a broad flat tongue.

What's more, now that they've come back, your hiccups feel stronger than before.

"This can't be happening..." you murmur.

*Hic*
