Give the Slippers to Some Total Stranger

You decide to pass the slippers on to someone who might have use for them. You sit down on a bench and watch people from all walks of life pass by: college students, lawyers, soldiers, werecreatures, and so forth. After a few minutes, a beautiful young woman sits down on the bench across from you. "Some crowd, isn't it?" she asks you, gesturing to some teenagers playing with assault weapons down by the food court.

"Yeah," you answer. "Hey, could you use a pair of slippers?"

The young woman eyes you strangely. "As a matter of fact, that's what I came here to buy. The department store didn't have any that I liked, though. Where did you find those?"

"In that store over . . . hey, it's gone!" Sure enough, there is only a blank wall in place of the store you just left. Was it all a figment of your imagination?
