Patience is Rewarding

"Yes indeed," she continues, pursing her mandibles. You can't bear the strain any more. "What?" Your shorts, also unable to bear the strain, rip a little more.

"Well," she says in a pleasant tone. "it's been simply ages since I've had a good meal. And if I leave you a little longer, I'll have myself a veritable feast in one spot." You feel a kind of chill horror spread through you. She's going to wait until you're an absolute blimp before she tucks into you!

You turn and start to run, but within a few steps, you're wheezing and out of breath. "I really wouldn't suggest it", the spider continues in a conversational tone. "You really are much too fat to get away from me." Your cheeks burn in humiliation, but you doggedly carry on, forcing yourself onward until you reach the slope back up to the tunnel. Laboriously, you begin to climb, your belly scraping the ground whenever your exhausted frame leans forward far enough.

By the time you reach the top, it's definitely scraping on the ground more frequently. The spider looks at you and says, "I think a few more hours should put enough meat on you to satisfy me. But I really can't have you wasting all those delicious calories with excercise." She begins to move purposefully towards you. You're near the tunnel entrance, but can you get to it quickly enough? More importantly, will you fit through it?
