Troggie's idea

"So how do we get the spark?" you ask.Troggie thinks for a while.

"If we could find something long, I could reach the lamp with you on the end. Then you could tie the lamp to it."

"Sounds good," you say "But won't I get affected by the curse?"

"Not if you've still got a connection with the corridor." answers Troggie.

"Let's do it!" you say.
