Space Cow

The rush of wind past your face increases as you scream upwards into the stratosphere. From your altitude you can see distant cities and towns, and further on you can see the sandy margin of the continent, and the ocean. As you soar higher and higher, you can see the curve of the Earth itself at the horizon, and the air around you begins to thin. You don't seem to need air, though; maybe it's the part of you that's still connected to the Earth that is providing air to the rest of your body?

As you accelerate upward at escape velocity, the blue sky darkens to the black of space, and a million million stars come out and dance just for you. You've never seen a sky like this. Even on the darkest, clearest Earth-bound night the atmosphere takes its toll. The sky you look upon now has a clarity and brillance that has only been shared by astronauts. How far can you go? Where will you end up? The moon? Mars? Jupiter? Saturn? Venus? Are the stars your destination?
