What's this?

You decide to try to forget about it and continue on. You continue to walk. Then, after a few minutes you stop to pick up a piece of paper that you spotted on the ground. You read it; it says: "In order to find the stone, you must continue this way and defeat the guard at the end---982" You wonder what the 982 means. You don't think much of it and continue on your way.
