Game 3 | Game 3 Outline |
During one summer, long after a century has past, you sense great pain. It is far worse than anything felt before, more than the initial transformation. More than the yearly growth. It's not quite like burning, but it feels different rather than less. Everything in your consciousness feels hazy, and you feel yourself fall to the ground - striking rocks and branches from other trees on the way down. You only passingly wonder if any of those other trees were similar victims.
Then, after periods of relief, the pain returns again. Your limbs are hacked away, dwindling yourself down to a size roughly that which you only faintly remember being. More and more of your body is chopped away, and you are dragged into darkness.
The pain continues, but it is smaller, more refined. Smaller chunks are cut away, but then more and more is sliced. The torture would be unbearable except for the fact that you have no choice but too.
Something strange then happens. You feel vibrations in the air. Then parts of you feel it more sensitively than others. The vibrations narrow to two points on your body, and then.... YOU HEAR THEM! You hear the sounds rather than feel it. For the first time in ages you can hear. The chanting words are like music.
Then the pain washes over you like a flood. Your body softens and you arch in what feels a blaze of hellfire. Light enters your eyes and you can see again. Arching your neck on a table, you can see the vampiress standing to the side watching as a small elderly woman nearby continues the chanting.
The vampiress puts a hand on the old crone, and the chanting stops. The pain subsides a little, but you still feel like you're about to pass-out like you normally do for the winter. Looking at yourself, you see you have been carved down the shape of a nude beautiful woman. You are still primarily wood, but your hair is long green grass and your nails the color of bark. You are breathing air, but you still feel the nutrients of what little light shines on your hair from one of the room's few small windows high up above.
"Why... why did you bring me back?" you ask. Your throat works for the first time, partially resistent to the motion usually needed for speaking.
"Good," the vampiress says. "I was hoping I remember which one you were. It would had been a shame to attempt this with one of your nearby children." She grins. "So many cuttings from you grew strong around the castle." She looks you over, "Kabermin's talents in wood carving were not overstated at all it seems. I may want to keep him alive for other tasks. But that is not important now." Her face darkens. "I need help. The world's..." she sneers, "growing civilization and technological advancement is threatening my castle and village. Help me or I make a pyre out of you."
