Game 3 | Game 3 Outline |
You don't have much difficulty making the walk from the castle into town, your reduced weight making it much easier to move despite your bulk. Once their you make sure to avoid any heavy traffic as people walk about on daily errands until you reach the pub. It doesn't seem to crowded, but the entrance looks far to small to get through. Luckily the smoke drifting from the inside gives you an idea.
"Mind if we eat outside," you ask your boss, "I really don't like cigerette smoke."
"That's fine by me," agrees your boss, and you both move to one of the tables set outside. You manage yourself on one of the stools, and the two of you begin ordering.
"You miss dinner last night or something?" your boss asks after you've ordered. "Huh? OH! Yeah..." you say, realizing that you had ordered quite a few dishes for just one person, "Up late... researching." you say, trying to make it sound believable. You boss gives you worried look, "Careful not to overdo it, we have enough problems without our reporters making themselves sick. Which brings me to the issue at hand." He says, folding his arms.
"The paper is not doing well, we've lost many subscribers and frankly the stories we've been publishing have been subpar at best. Frankly from the looks of it, we can't afford to publish your story." He says quite seriously. "Wait, your not going to fire me are you?" you ask nervously. "Oh, no, no, no, your one of our op reporters," he says much to your relief, "But as it stands, the paper is in danger of going under, we need more gripping and interesting stories to attract readers, or we'll all be out of jobs." At this point your food arrives, which you quickly begin devouring.
"Careful," your boss says in a joking manner, "You'll ruin your girlish figure if you keep eating like that." You realize that you're once again gorging yourself, and try to slow down, though you note the stress in your bosses voice. He seems too worried about the paper to truly notice your unusual habits. You think, there has to be something you can do, at least to prolong your stay here. "Well," you say, thinking up something, "I did find something that I may be able to use, though I'll need some more time to verify this," you say in a hush hush tone, "I haven't confirmed this yet, but it seems that Bathory may have had a sister."
Your Bosses eyes light up, "Really? That might be just the story we're looking for." he says, "If you can confirm that it may just help bring in readers." You nod, "Oh course I'll need to extend my stay a little, but if I can see this thing through..." You boss nods in agreement, "By all means, people love unveiling forgotten history." All the same he let's out a worried sigh, "It's a start for sure, hopefully we can get a few more stories in. Frankly I wish the story of the century would simply land in my lap." He says.
At the same time, you feel a little strange...
