Transfer of ownership

You do your best to try to seem comforting, approaching the ghostly maid while keeping you eye out for potential debris in case she does inadventantly cause things to start falling. "Come now, it can't be all that bad," you say soothingly, "Doesn't the castle fall to the next of kin or something if something happens to your master?" you put out, hoping to steer her into the idea.

Her sobbing slows a little, "Yes, but master had no heir, and if none have come forth by now..." You think of the next step, "What about a statute of limitations? Wouldn't the castle default to someone after a certain time?"

The maid quiets down a little, processing the question, "Well, yes, if no heir comes forth, the castle defaults to the nearest noble, and if he fails to claim it, the castle will be up for auction to those who make an offer. But, if nobody has come thorth for it by now..." she start sniffling again. "Well... if thats the case..." you say, as if you've just come up with an idea. You ruffle through your pockets, though it's like trying to stick you hands into a vice they are so tight. You are able to withdraw 2 dollars, "Do you think this counts?"

The woman looks at the money, and you see a light rekindle in her eyes, "YES... I mean.... if you really want it." She says as she begins regaining her composure. "I think it would be a pleasure." you say, thinking about how brilliant you are. "Then I will get the deed, once you sign it, the castle and all it's assets will revert to your name." She says, before fading and disappearing. A short time later, she floats in, an old folder in her hands with a number of papers. You hand her the money and she has you sign some papers. "And there you go, you are now the new master!" she says, smiling with genuine enthesiasm.

"Excellent," you say, "Now, about the witches workshop..."
