An explanation

You gape at the clone standing above you. He looks himself over, inspecting the different parts of his - no, your, body. It's weird.

"A little thin, but I guess it'll do." He comments, and frowns down at you. "You, on the other hand, are about to get a whole lot bigger."

You stumble to your feet and stand face-to-face with your doppelgänger. "What do you mean? What the heck just happened, anyway?" You shake your head. "Who are you?!"

"First off, my name's James," he says, "so that answers your third question. And, in case it wasn't obvious, I am now you. And you're about to become what I used to be."

You think of the fat man you first saw James as. "You mean..."

"A hunter? Yeah." James grimaces. "A fat, hairy, stinkin' hunter." He gestures towards his (now flat) stomach. "Sorry, that's just how the cycle works."

"Cycle?"

James sighs. "The park needs a caretaker. The first caretaker was a really big guy, and a hunter by trade. When he retired, he passed his mantle on to the first person who walked into his shack. And by mantle," James says, "I mean his body. You see, when the caretaker wants to move on, they need to get someone else to replace them. They can't leave the park until they do. So, they switch with someone - the new guy becomes the caretaker, while the current one gets their body. You following me?"

"I think so." You say. "So you're saying that I'm going to turn into a fat guy?"

"Yeah, pretty much. As soon as I leave the building, you'll start changing. That's what happened to me."

"But... can't you stay, or something? I don't want to be a fatass!"

"Well..."
