Meeting with Zetos

You quickly decide to tell Zetos a half-truth, deciding it would be best to keep the whole story a secret, at least for now.

"Well, uh, I'm not really sure...I don’t really know what happened. The last thing I remember is falling asleep by a lake while I was traveling, and when I woke up I was in that hut [you indicate the ruins of the hut] with Zegie, Onetas, and the others. They offered to let me stay, and...well, then that thing attacked."

"Hm. Well, you really shouldn't be traveling around here alone, especially unarmed. You're lucky that the monster that attacked you was the one I've been tracking." At your confused look, Zetos chuckles and explains. "See, I hail from Sparta, which as you know is highly militaristic. I've been fighting since before I could talk. I could have been a general in the Spartan army, if not for a technicality. It was found out that my great-great-grandfather was a foreigner. I was disgraced, and banished by Sparta's king. Ever since then, I've been wandering the lands, honing my skills even further, and slaying monsters." Zetos looks at the corpse of the beast that attacked you. "That one was a magically-altered hydra. Not as powerful as most hydras, but even more vicious, and just as dangerous, thanks to the alteration. I've been tracking it for weeks."

Zetos looks directly at you. "So, Arra, what are you going to do now?"

You flinch. You weren't really expecting that. "Ah, hmm. I'm...not really sure..."

You look down at yourself, then at the ruins of the hut, then the monster's corpse, then at Zetos. You turn away and look at the ground while you consider your options. Zetos said it was not safe to be traveling alone, and with that monster attack, you can see why. Plus, you really have no idea what is going on, and it might be best to have someone around who is more experienced here. Finally, Zetos might be able to help you find a way to turn back to normal--if and when you decide to tell him your whole predicament. You turn around again to look at Zetos. You force a slight grin and a nervous chuckle. "Uh, if it's ok, I'd like to travel with you if that’s alright..."

Zetos chuckles. "I've been traveling alone for a very long time, and it might do me some good to have some company. All right, Arra. Glad to have you with me."
