You've already swallowed!

The voice is too late by half a second. The yellow berry is already making its way down the little red lane. "I, uh, already did. But, um, why did you say that?" you ask the source of the voice, who looks as if he could be your twin and who wears a letter jacket reading NICKY.

"Oh, you'll find out (huh-huh-huh), the same way I did (ho-ho-ho)!" Nicky gasps. Then he sinks to his knees.

"Dude, are you okay?" you ask. Nicky nods but doesn't speak. You put your hand on his shoulder. "Are you sure? Can I do anything - ah-ha!" you say, feeling a sudden spasm.

Nicky stands up, and says, "I guess it got you, too."

"What got me?" you ask. Then you feel another spasm. "I'm sorry, this isn't funny!" you cry as you're overcome by a wave of laughter.

Nicky isn't fazed. "That berry you ate? It (heeheehee) - it was Gigglefruit!"

And sure enough, you can definitely feel that whatever it was you ate is causing waves of tickling sensations all over and through you, inside and out. "I ate it too," says Nicky. Then he doubles over, falls, and soon lies sprawled on the ground, pounding the earth with his fists and laughing his head off.

As Nicky keeps laughing, you feel the tickling inside you growing stronger and more irresistible. Soon you're sprawled on the ground laughing right next to him. The two of you laugh for a good quarter hour before the tickling sensation eases.

You and Nicky sit up and talk, the conversation interspersed with giggles. Nicky informs you that he ate a berry an hour before you did. He takes a book from his pocket and tells you he's been trying to figure out an antidote. While Gigglefruit is perfectly safe for most animals, humans have a limited time to take an antidote before the effect becomes permanent. A special herb is required, to be taken mixed with boiled coconut milk. Luckily Nicky carries a supply of the herb with him at all times, so, giggling quite a bit, the two of you set out to find a coconut...
